William Saroyan wrote these impressions of acquaintances and others he culled from the necrology register of the trade magazine "Variety" for 1976. The writing and reminiscenses are more about Saroyan than his subjects; at this stage of life he had become very self-centered. The reminiscences vary widely in terms of interest; some are fascinating and some are the exact equivalent of reading a phone book. ( )
