It has two sections: one with commentary and general planting and harvest requirements, the other with reference charts. This book and How to Grow More Vegetables, by John Jeavons, are my two most consulted gardening books. ( )no reviews | add a review
Amazon.com Amazon.com Review (ISBN 0553374621, Paperback)Sylvia Thompson's book is satisfyingly organized for the truly methodical vegetable and herb gardener. Items are alphabetized (from adzuki beans to turnips) with enough detailed information to help the prospective gardener decide whether or not to plant, and with recommended varieties listed. The "Gardener's Notebook" section functions as a glossary and general information source. Maps show the North American hardiness zones and length of growing seasons, and there's a comprehensive chart of sowing, planting, and harvesting information for all listed vegetables and herbs.(retrieved from Amazon Thu, 07 Jan 2010 23:15:38 -0500) The first test round has been closed.
