Presented in this book are about forty puzzles which fall into the special category of additive alphametics. Within this subcategory two varieties of alphametics are included -- the ideal doubly-true type (i.d.t) and the narrative type. Also incorporated are ""integer idiosyncracies"" to tantalize the reader's mathematical taste buds. The book also comprises directed approaches to each of the puzzles. These discussions are tailored to provide some strategic guidance without removing the challenge associated with the quest for the actual answer. Solutions to all puzzles and responses to all questions raised within the context of the narrative alphametics are also given.
The appeal of these puzzles can be traced to the fact that achieving success is virtually independent of one's mathematical prowess. Logical thought, cleverness, and tenacity are the major weapons used to unravel an alphametic.
