Don't Waste Your Life Never Change Storm Warning You Can't Go Home Again Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight

Not sure if I can find much in common between The Revenge of Gaia by James Lovelock and Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight by Alexandra Fuller, but here goes: 1) Both talk about the weather and problems it causes 2) Both talk about times of upheaval (civil war, ice ages and ...

Plowed through Gaia (no pun intended) and am now reading Alexandra Fuller's memoir of her childhood in Africa Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight. Alexandra's family emigrated from England when she was a toddler and struggled to hold on to their farm as Rhodesia became Zimbabwe.

Gaia was a quick read (159 pages) and I'm on to Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight by Alexandra Fuller.

I'm reading (for the second time actually) Alexandra Fuller's memoir of her childhood in Africa, Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight. As immigrants from England, her family struggled to maintain their farm as Rhodesia became Zimbabwe.

I'm reading Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight by Alexandra Fuller. This is the story of her life as a white person living in Africa. It opens with a photo of her as a 4 year old loading the rifle her father used to defend his farm in Rhodesia. Chilling.

The 2 novels from Alexandra Fuller are historical fiction, but good read about the Rhodesian Civil War: Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight and Scribbling the Cat.

Hi and welcome! I read Don't let's Go to the Dogs Tonight a few years ago and loved it. How are you enjoying The Fatal Shore? I read it twice and really enjoyed it (obviously, I guess!).

A book I hated was Don't lets go to the dogs tonight. I think I finished it because my mother and I enjoyed making fun of it. ... The characters and settings are so well-done but the mystery just dragged forever. Now I'm devoting my full attention to Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight, Alexandra Fuller's memoir of childhood in war-time Africa. It is good but thus far not quite as atmospheric as her other book.

I think I'm going to take a break from Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow and start on Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight. It arrived in the mail yesterday after a very long wait and it looks very enticing.

I especially liked Alexandra Fuller's book too, and have recommended Don't Let's Go To the Dogs Tonight to many folks since it came out, but her follow-up to it Scribbling the Cat wasn't nearly so good and was, for my money anyway, a major disappointment.

Don't Let's Go To The Dogs Tonight was a cracking read, although I heard it abridged on the radio not long before and found it a bit disjointed to read as a result. I should have waited a bit longer to read it. I'm quite a big fan of 'showbiz' memoirs and biographies - the best one I've read ...

I agree. The Tender Bar was very good. Try The Color of Water by James McBride. It is a totally unforgettable story. Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight by Alexandra Fuller is also excellent.
