This weighty work takes place in Brixton, London, mainly in the 1980's. The development of the main character, Aesop, is detailed. Aesop is a young lawyer with a sincere need to help others and an ongoing reflection about himself and his community spurring his personal growth. His cases provide interesting and thought provoking situations. Part of the book links his cases to Aesop's fables. This link is underscored by the writing style.

What an interesting, unique read to have been taken on with the main character Aesop Fitzgerald and the characters in his life. I was wistful when the story ended - I wanted to read more. :) ( )
