Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0002217309, Hardcover)

In a remote village in the Andes, McKenna, an American priest, is trying to win the confidence of his bitterly poor Indian parishioners, who have known only cruelty and exploitation. A free-speaking Englishman called Taber, who has come to teach the peasants how to improve their pathetic agriculture aggravates an already tense situation.
