Cozy mysteries aren't my usual thing, but I borrowed the ebook from the library when I needed a quick and easy read. It was cute, and I might pick up the next one when I want another quick read! ( )

This was a very enjoyable cozy mystery set by the beach in Washington. I really enjoyed the main character and can't wait to read more. I didn't think she made any outrageous mistakes or investigations during the book, which can throw off some of this genre. The main character was relatable and intelligent. Thanks to #Chatterbox, #RandomHouse and Netgalley for giving me a free copy in exchange for my honest review. #RHMysterypack ( )

This was a good first in a series cozy and I liked it more then Fox’s other series that I’d previously read, Music Lover’s Mystery. The characters and mystery were top notch, the setting is where the book is a bit of a letdown.

Wildwood Cove, the quaint, coastal community

Just really felt generic, it could have been any beach on any ocean in the world.

That was a heck of a day. Glitter spilled everywhere and we had a problem with the dishwasher, so we ended up with water all over the floor as well. The dishwasher got fixed, but the glitter’s been impossible to get rid of completely.”

After reading this I was sure that the thieves and killer were Michael and Daryl, because Jimmy had glitter on his body at the spot his body was dumped.

I was wrong about Daryl, it was Michael and Tina and Daryl wind up being another casualty along the way.

The mystery was engaging enough, but the writing seemed clunky to me at times. It is fine, but I don't plan. to read others in the series. ( )

murder-investigation, law-enforcement, greed, small-business, small-town*****

Murder of a beloved elder relative who is also beloved by the small coastal community.
Marley took time off from her job in Seattle to manage the pleasant eatery owned by Jimmy who had been in hospital with pneumonia. Turns out that he got himself out of hospital at the wrong time and wound up dead, not of drowning but having been stabbed to death first. Law enforcement is good despite being small, but Marley has a need to help, especially after some threatening incidents. No lack of misdirection, red herrings, and disquieting characters. Good sleuthing!
Marguerite Gavin adds to the suspense with her narration. ( )
