Peter Brandt is back and he leaves no stone unturned in his search for the truth in Martin Roy Hill’s second book in the Peter Brandt series. Brandt is an investigative reporter who doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff. He is astute and likes nothing better than pushing people to their limits catching every little slip up.

Hill has written about a subject he knows well. However he doesn’t blind the reader with his knowledge spouting endless technical jargon and the explanation of unfamiliar acronyms are effortlessly imbedded in the story.

The Last Refuge is a political thriller laced with mystery, intrigue, double crossing, Government cover-ups, conspiracy theories and secrets.

This is a fast paced story with adrenaline pumping action and a couple of unexpected twists.

If you enjoy stories of political intrigue and military fiction based on true events The Last Refuge is not to be missed.

I’m hoping Peter Brandt hasn’t hung up his pen and notebook just yet and there will be more to come in this series.

With my thanks to the author for my copy to read and review. ( )
