This second book of Kathi Daley's new adult series set in Hawaii is again as complicated and fascinating as the first book. I think you would best enjoy reading this series in order.

Providing a service and protecting the public is a family tradition. While her cop brother was not in favor of Lani's involvement last time, now he invites her to use her connections to gather information. Of course he never wants to put her in danger. Lani seems to have a talent for that on her own.

I find it interesting how the author can make me believe the story is headed in one direction only to take her readers down a different path.
A mix of friendship and family, budding romance and mystery. ( )

The second in her Hawaiian Series. Kathy once again delivers a well written, well paced, well edited cozy mystery. While a relative newcomer she has shown she understands her audience well and is an adept story teller.
She populates her books with interesting characters. She always has a longer term story line running in conjunction with the short term mystery plot for the book. It allows you to invest in the series knowing that there will be future adventures for the group of characters that you come to know. I also like that she lets her characters grow from book to book.
This particular series is set in Hawaii and features a petite lifeguard that dreams of being a police officer like her brothers. The heroine is a strong, intelligent independent woman. She surrounds herself with friends who are of a like mind. These are clean reads and would be suitable for a young adult.
If you are a fan of the cozy genre these are for you. Kathi is a master of the cozy mystery. ( )
