( ) I first read this book in Year 7 as the library had a pirate themed display for the month. It's literally my favourite book ever and I'm so glad it's getting th recognition it deserves. Alosa is such a likeable, sassy and empowered young woman and Riden is such a thoughtful, loving and protective brother and first-mate. Both characters are witty and I love the tension and banter between them, as well as the endearing side characters. Pirates, strong female characters, slow-burn romance and sirens are literally all my favourite things combines so thanks very much Tricia. I also love her siren powers and how they are explained super well. The plot was fantastic and so was the romance, this book really shows you don't need characters to have sx for it to be a good book. This book did not disappoint. It was a fast paced story with great world building and great characters. Alosa was such an amazing main character, Riden was a great love interest and I loved the romance (and tension) between them. I found this book very entertaining and enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. I’m looking forward to reading Tricia’s other books, because if they’re as good as this one, I’m sure I won’t be disappointed. no reviews | add a review
