Moving on to Wetware, dustcover description sounded interesting, especially after reading Next Next by Chrichton focuses on human genetics. This book unfolds very slowly and has many independent plot threads that were difficult to keep track of. Nonetheless, it builds and kind of steamrollers to its finish - typical Crichton but without the gratuitous 50 pages of denouement after the real climax ... Well, having just finished Next by Michael Crichton, I must say, either I have read too many of his books, and they are becoming all too predictable; or it just wasn't his best work. Anyone read The Keeper? I'm just starting it today. I'm looking forward to He ... I'm on Michael Crichton's Next which is an improvement over his last few offerings. The various plots are moving along well, and the science is kept at a reasonable level. Lots of social comment about where biotech is and where it might be going. Can't wait to see how the ending pans out. I thought this would be harder than it was.

#118, Bookmarque: I read Next just a couple of weekends ago. Normally it takes me a week to read an average book but this one I finished over a weekend. I just couldn't put it down. I enjoyed ... Finished The Inner Circle by T.C. Boyle and started both Next by Crichton and The Emperor of Ocean Park by Carter. Both of them have hooked me good and so I hardly know how I'll divide my time. Am still working on The Boy who Followed Ripley, too.
Oy vey. I read Next by Michael Crichton over the weekend. Couldn't put it down. I was fascinated by the tidbits of information about genes/DNA and hasd fun picking out fact from fiction.
I've now started Silver on the Tree by Susan Cooper which I've been meaning to read for ages now, to ... I read Next by Michael Chrichton over the weekend. Quite the page turner; I liked it much better than his last 3 or 4. I had a very hard time putting it down to get some sleep. The most interesting thing was finding out about human chimeras.

Overall I enjoyed this book. Next is about genetic research and all the ways it affects people with several subplots to show the reader different aspects. For instance, I did not realize (because it seems illogical) that specific genes can be owned.
... really what I wanted to read about. Hopefully the next book in this series will be better.
