Just started Soon I Will Be Invincible by Austin Grossman. Several friends enjoyed it. ... swap' thing. Books by brothers, in fact, which increased the appeal. Lev Grossman's The Magicians and Austin Grossman's Soon I Will be Invincible. ... it. Although, I will still read it, not least because Lev Grossman is the brother (I think) of Austin Grossman, who wrote Soon I Will Be Invincible, which should have been up for "title of the year" awards. :)

It's splendid. Write a sequel. Comparisons to Watchmen, however, are overblown-"Soon I Will Be" is far more affectionate towards its source material. It's a slightly jokey return visit to a beloved genre.

I see you have Bloodsucking Fiends, have you read You Suck? It's a stand alone sequel to Fiends. I think that the second is better though. If you like Fiends you should definitely check out You Suck. ... month's "To Read" List-

The evil genius part are funny and clever, but the hero parts are boring and something I've seen ... ... before chuckin' into the "so much for that" stack... I'm tempted to start skipping every other chapter in my current read Soon I Will Be Invincible, some chapters with a certain character's pov are funny, clever, different, but the other 1/2 of the story? Recently finished Soon I will be Invincible by Austin Grossman read by J. Paul Boehmer and Coleen Marlo. If you're a comic book geek (which I'm not) you'll love it, otherwise it's an ... ... little parody. Even though it isn't his best work, his brilliance does sparkle in several places.

I love reading sci-fi, but I'm not a die-hard fan so I'm unsure what's good and what's not. I only know what I like. Soon I Will be Invincible is a novel just out here in the states (or soon to be). When I visited the bookstore where I used to work on Monday, one of my former co-workers told me how much he enjoyed it and how the reader's copy was now circulating the staff. Read nunatak's review on it here in LT. ...
