Rose isn't like the other two girls in this trilogy who reject and want to get past traditional women's roles. She immediately takes on traditional roles without complaint- her concerns are primarily with her father's drinking. I did notice that the three girls in this series all fall in love with different boys, but none will go head-over-heals. All the girls have priorities that they won't sacrifice, even though they love their separate boys. ( )
