It only took a few chapters of this well-done, character-driven, psychological thriller for me to warm up to it. It's populated by several interesting women and more than a few animals (domestic and wild); which I found intriguing (very interesting to see how some of the characters relate or don't to their pets or other animals. A feminist priest, who seems to have stirred up the town, is found murdered. Lots of possible suspects. Smallish town. Some repeat characters from her award-winning, first book (which I haven't read). I did wonder over the translation at a few points - some incomplete sentences; but I ended up attributing them to creative license... And you might want to read the first book first... ( )
