Book description
Sam Adams, reporter for the Atlanta Constitution, goes reluctantly to report on the Miss America pageant. Boyfriend Harry comes along, meets up with old friend Lavert, there to support his Cousin Lucinda, Miss Louisiana (who's top competition is Miss Texas, a Malilyn Monroe wanna-be. A judge is missing, and Sam begins to investigate the mobsters and weird and funny characters involved !
Reporter "Sam" not happy about having to cover the Miss American pagent. Her boyfriend Harry and black friend Lavert are there too. The "mob" (sort of) has a favorite; tricks being played to influence the judges; then a judge goes missing - no bodies. It's black Miss Louisiana vs. "Marilyn Monroe" look-alike from New Jersey !
