Definitely not deep but since I'm about to tackle Anne Bronte's book, I needed something light. This book is the first in a series. You're introduced to Annie and Eve - two lifelong friends that are polar opposites. Annie (the main character, at least in this book) is recently divorced and dealing with low self esteem. Eve is a glamourous beauty, full of confidence, can't commit to one man and just a bit dingy. Eve decides to cheer Anne up by signing her up for cooking classes and after their first lesson, upon leaving, they stumbly upon a dying man in the parking lot. At first what appears to be a heart attack turns into murder. These 2 friends decide to have some fun in their lives and begin to investigate since they already feel that one of their classmates is guilty. Their inexperience gets them into hot water a few times. Annie is someone most women can relate to and so find her musings funny. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the others in the series. ( )If you love to read a comedy type mystery, then this is the book series for you. You can't help but laugh, when Annie & Eve get themselves into situations, surrounding murder, and their attempt to solve it. It is a fun read and keeps you going to the end to discover who the actual murderer is. If you like cooking and mystery- this book offers a perfect combination of both. A fun book- that introduces us to the "logical" Anne Chapshaw and her sophisticated friend Eve. Eve decides the perfect way to get Anne's mind off her recent divorce is to enroll them in a cooking class. The cooking class leads the ladies into an investigation involving lies, decent and a disc full of information that may hold the key into unraveling the death of a character names Drago. A quick read and includes several recipes at the end if you're bold enough to try them. I loved this book! This book was full of obstacles and twists and turns about a mystery that needed solving and the solving was up to two young ladies whos only thrill in sight is cooking and boys. The book kept me on my toes and the edge of my seat all the way until the end, literally! ~Review Submitted by Bayne Library Patron, Amanda Kroen~ Yeah...a cozy mystery I enjoyed. "Cute" Annie and her sexy friend Eve join a cooking class, basically as a distraction from Annie's divorce becoming finalized. Not only are they enjoying the class and their 'hottie' teacher but they find themselves embroiled in a mystery or two along the way. I suspected the killer long before it was revealed and the 'red herring' was obviously that, but this was still a fun read, lighthearted but not complete fluff (but just fluffy enough). This is what I personally craved to read after a recent dry spot with mysteries. I can't rate this as a four, but it was closer to a three and a half then a three star. I would be more than happy to read the next offerings in this series. I am curious to see who they continue being "cooking class" mysteries when they finished the course as I finished mine with this book. An extra mention: This cover is adorable. no reviews | add a review
