This is really the last of the Guardians of the Flame books. There are others after it, but they really go in a different direction with different characters. I enjoyed this book like all of the others, but really it isn't quite as strong as the first five. ( )

Book description
In the seventh installment of Rosenberg's Guardians of the Flame series, the major characters are Walter Slovotsky, who has to reconcile himself to not only the loss of his wife but also to going questing with his wife's lover, and Jason Cullinane, who is slowly growing into his father boots. One part of that growth involves questing with a member of the Slavers' Guild, and that is not the yarn's only complication.
