Loading... The Orchard: A Memoirby Adele Crockett Robertson
A beautiful little journal found by John Updike's daughter in an attic. About a woman who gives up college in early 1920's to save family orchard farm in New England. I learned so much from this book; beekeeping, apples and a monologue of courage when one struggles. ( )Story of a determined, strong woman who faces adversities during the Depression. She is alone in this struggle, at times ready to give up, but her will and inventiveness brings her through. The Orchard will stay with you, maybe even inspire in these times. I would give this ten stars if I could. The writing is beautiful and the story so compelling and real. I make a point of rereading this every fall - it's that good. |
