It was an extreme coincidence that I read this days before the Honshu Earthquake. My thoughts are with the citizens of Japan. ( )

I watched the movie many years ago and it really stuck with me. The manga of course fleshes it out more, and has a major impact getting to know everyone.

Reading challenge-A book with an orange cover (So I own a LOT of books, so I'm adjusting the reading challenge to get them off my TBR and stock piling.) ( )

Gen's life before the bomb with his family was not exactly easy. Wartime Japan was a hungry place for the poor. Gen's father was passionate and outspoken against the war, which made others dislike him and his family. Social ostracism and bullying were the order of the day. ( )
