RIYL: "Chinatown" & "Neuromancer". I'm not a fan of "Neuromancer," and the details around Envoy training (central, I thought, to understanding the main character) were sketchy at best -- woefully inadequate might be more accurate. However, on the hard-boiled detective side (think Nicholson in "Chinatown," or Bogart as Sam Spade) Morgan did an admirable job here.
