Di Riccarelli mi dolgo per la scomparsa di cui ho saputo solo ieri, e questo romanzo di nostalgie - che volentieri vorrei che una voce narrante fuori campo (come quella di Emilio Cigoli, dei film di Peppone e Don Camillo) mi leggesse con calma - me lo fa ricordare con tenerezza.
Riccarelli, della delicatezza dell'aggettivazione, della costruzione levigata della frase, dei continui rimandi al passato, parla di una Italia vigorosa, quella che probabilmente ora possiamo trovare solo sui libri di fiction come questo. Un palcoscenico di figure a volte abbozzate, a volte definite, sono tutte contorno in un luogo vagamente immaginario, in una nazione che non esiste piĆ¹, della quale ci si puo' ricordare solo con un piccolo sbalzo del cuore, e una lieve punta di rammarico.
