This is a good book to read to small children who are learning about the different sleep behaviors that differernt animals have. It talks about bears, pigeons, fish, moths, turtles, and other animals and then talks about little boys and girls. ( )This book is good to read before nap time or to teach children about where different animals sleep. It mentions that bears sleep in dark caves, fish sleep among green water ferns, horses sleep standing up, crickets sleep in long meadow grass, turtles sleep inside their shell, boy and girls sleep warm under blankets in their bed, etc. After reading this book sleeping sounds very inviting and educational at the same time. In this book, Zolotow talks about animals, and how they sleep at night. She also talks about how it is time for bedtime throughout the story. This is a great book for young children who have a hard time getting to sleep. It allows the child to see a picture book of everyone sleeping. It is great for early readers. This book is a book about where animals and children sleep. It gives several examples of where certain animals sleep, like bears in caves and pigeons huddled together for warmth. It also tells about how children cuddle up under their blankets in their beds when they are ready for bedtime. This books makes me sleepy! The illustrations are warm and comforting. I like how the author gives many examples of animals and how and where they sleep. It informs the children in a subtle way about various sleep habits. This would be a good book for children right before bed. One extension could be to research how other animals not depicted in this book sleep and draw pictures of those animals. Another extension would be to have the students write about the bedtime routine they go through at home. no reviews | add a review
