Makes a terrific companion to any of the Betjeman biographies. Prose style is impressionistic, and nostalgic tone, but sometimes this comes at the expense of clarity. Captions to the illustrations would have helped: sometimes I found difficult to discern what portion of the accompanying text the pictures are intended to illustrate.
