A collection of short stories based on her own life. Everyone has stories. It has me remembering aspects of my own life in vivid detail. She's a master observer and recorder of the human condition. ( )

Collected non-fiction articles from the early seventies until the mid-nineties. They include the sex education class that got Garner sacked from the education department, the aftermath of her controversial book [The First Stone], observing autopsies at the morgue, a short cruise on a Russian ship, the award-winning "Killing Daniel"about the death of the little boy Daniel Valerio, weddings at the registry office. Garner is an acute and sympathetic observer. ( )
