Yeah, well, not every volume is up to the standards of the first. This one was fine if all you are looking for is *mostly* backstory on some of the individuals and robots, but there's only a smidge of real action in real-time.

I'd classify these five issues as filler if I was reading manga.

Definitely average stuff. I hope some of the minor character reveals lead up to something awesome later because it's kinda lame here. ( )

Enjoyed this as much as the other two, but A LOT of the scenes were flashbacks. I didn't mind them terribly, as they're so well done, but it does make me itch to get back to the main plot lines. Hoping for some conclusions (even if it's not all of them) in the next trade. ( )

The promising series comes to a screeching halt as we are presented with a volume of character backstories. Five flashbacks in a row. They're not bad, but they don't seem particularly necessary either. ( )

This is my first foray into the Descender series (I only noticed it was book 3 later on). It looks interesting. A robot-human war has erupted across known space. An android boy finds himself abandoned and pursued by 'scrappers'. Other stories concern human children who have lost parents to the war. The drawing style was OK but not entirely to my taste, writing was good. ( )
