Is about a bird named Tico who was born with no wings. He gets one wish and he wishes for golden wings. When he gets these wings he begins to give his friends a wing. After he has given away all of his wings he has black wings and his friends accept him. This is a good book to read to children because it teaches them not only that it is ok to be different, everyone is different, and about sharing.

Tico was a bird that was different from all the rest. He could not fly. One day he made a wish that he would be able to fly. One night a wishing bird brought Tico a pair of golden wings. He used his golden wings to provide other people with happiness and everytime he got rid of a golden wing, there was a black silk wing underneath. At the end he flew back to his friends and they accepted him because he did not have golden wings anymore.

This is a great story because it tells students to help others out when they need help and you will look great to others. Help those out in need that help you out. The bird was a better person by helping the people with all their problems. This book would best be read to a classroom or at home with a mom and dad before bedtime for a good lesson before the child goes to bed.

Tico and the Golden Wings is about a bird who is born without any wings. Then the wishing bird gives Tico one wish. He wishes for golden wings. Throughout the story he gives a golden feather to different people in need.
This book is a great example for teaching about sharing and giving to others in need. I would recommend this book to all ages.

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0394830784, Paperback)

All Tico the wingless bird wants is a pair of golden wings to carry him up over the mountaintops. But when Tico's wish is granted, none of his friends will talk to him. What's so wrong with being different? Tico wonders all alone. One day Tico helps a crying man by giving him one of his golden feathers. A black feather appears in its place. Each day he gives a feather away to someone in need until his golden wings are as black as India ink. When Tico returns to his friends, they are all relieved to see him. "Now you are just like us," they say. But Tico knows there is more to him than the color of his wings.
