John met a woman who changed his future.... In the process he found SALVATION.... Unbeknownst to Emma, John's past prepared him for his future. He thought he could run away from them, but one day they found him. One afternoon Emma invited John over for dinner. He had no idea he was being followed. They waited for the right moment and barged into the home, carrying guns and vengeance. Fear seized Emma and her mother as the intruders waved their guns. John, poised with courage, glanced over at Emma and her mother. He exhaled and felt a surge of guilt pulsate within his veins, knowing he had brought his problems into their home. He then mustered up enough courage and approached the intruders, hoping to detour their attention away from Emma and her mother. Suddenly without warning.... Something happened.... Bullets were fired.... Shortly afterwards, Pastor Green returned home to his family. His body trembled as he dropped to his knees. Blood was everywhere.… (more)

Amy's Bookshelf Reviews
Magnificent and inspirational

I am a fan of Ware's, so I jumped at the chance to read another book. This author writes very well, and brings the reader right in the middle of the story. It's a powerful story about turning one's life around, but also have the past catch up to you. John Rivers is a remarkable character, who grows throughout the story, inspired by his faith, and his grandmother's faith. It's a story that is unpredictable with a great back story that helps you realize what's going on in the present. Faith, love and inspiration, as well as sacrifice. Remarkable. I read it in one sitting, and it still holds dear for me. ( )
