"Xenophobia--an irrational fear of foreigners, probably justified, always understandable."
"Xenophobe's Guides--an irreverent look at the beliefs and foibles of nations, almost guaranteed to cure Xenophobia." I must admit, this book shows Americans, in general, as we truly are. As an American ex-pat who has lived abroud for 11 years (as I write this review), I can assure you this is how we are viewed. After the initial shock of feeling defensive, I was laughing out loud while reading several of the passages. I would greatly recommend this book for anyone who will be spending any amount of time in the U.S.A. !!!

Belongs firmly in the "funny because it's true" category, this tiny volume captures the absurdities of American culture and conventions. There are apparently others in the series, dealing with other cultures. ( )
