As it's the second book in the trilogy, I expected the further adventures of the established, enormous cast of characters from the first book. They played relatively minor roles in this one, but it served to give a simple enough story an enormous richness. This book had two moments where my jaw dropped, quite literally. One was halfway through, and I recall thinking, holy moly, this would have been a climax in any other series! Enthralling. Jack Remillard is one of the most powerful psychics on the planet. Using his telekiniesis, he can create a body for himself out of molecules in the air. But, he is lonely and wants a mate. She has been waiting for him, a woman of near equal mental powers. The Diamond Mask. They are destined for one another. And destined to save mankind. A fantastic sequel to "Jack the Bodiless." The being known as Fury is still at work, and an obvious target is Dorothea MacDonald, perhaps the most powerful operant human alive. She lives quietly on the Scots planet Caledonia. When whe tells Fury to get lost, the Milieu discover her as well, and when she enters the Metapsychi Institute, she meets Jack Remillard. They realise they are meant to be together, as Jack is the only other human with her power level. A rebellion is brewing, and Caladonia is part of it. The rebels need more power, and Marc Remillard is someone they are interested in. It seems that the two brothers will be on opposite political sides. http://superprose.blogspot.com/2006/1... no reviews | add a review
