Le parole di papa Francesco hanno, almeno in parte, ritrovato l'autorevolezza di quelle pronunciate dai pontefici medievali, di Gregorio VII nei confronti di Enrico IV e di Innocenzo IV nei confronti di Federico II. Le parole dei papi rinascimentali e moderni, invece, hanno perso di autorevolezza. L'A. sembra rimproverare a Pio XII di non aver saputo (o voluto) ritrovare le parole di alcuni suoi predecessori per stigmatizzare i comportamenti dei vari Hitler e Mussolini. ( )
