Good book; helpful for the intermediate student who wants to be familiar with some of the most common mistakes that English-speakers learning German make. Certainly a book that I would consider extremely good for a German learner's bookshelf.

Keep in mind, however, that this book is *not* a beginner's intro to German. You're not going to learn the basics of the German language with this. It does, however, make a wonderful supplement to just about any intro course text. ( )

Good reference book. Explains things clearly in neat little charts. Doesn't weigh much, either! ( )

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0812096525, Paperback)

A valuable reference guide thatpinpoints and corrects errors students are most likely to make when writing or speaking German. Idioms, exceptions to grammatical rules, word order in sentences, regional variations, and potential confusions between Der and Ein words are among the many problem areas that are clearly explained. A highly useful supplement to standard text books, and an indispensable aid for composition and translation.
