This play has been six years in the making. An early draft of In Their Nightgowns, Dancing, directed by the playwright, was performed in Prince George and Toronto in the summer and fall of 1999. Under the dramaturgy and direction of Peg Christoperson, it was remounted in Vancouver in the summer of 2000 at the UBC Summer Theatre Festival. Both of these versions were two-handers with Michael Armstrong and Rumiana Cormack playing Aslan and Irena. In September 2001, the play was workshopped at the Banff playRites Colony. In the fall of 2003, the play was rewritten in a form very close to its present one; and in the spring of 2004, Roughhouse Theatre Project of Prince George mounted a production for Theatre BC's Central Interior Zone Festival with the following cast and production team. It went on to win a number of awards at Theatre BC's Mainstage Festival and represented BC at the Canada West Play Festival in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, in October of that year.… (more)
