This book focuses on many aspects of Celtic lore, including things such as origins, effects on Christianity, deities, and hero's.The book talks about a lot of things that have appeared in things created after the religion. There is a goddess that was absorbed into Christianity as a saint. There is even a deity that Titiana is based off of, and Epona, goddess of horses, is who your horse is named after in the legend of zelda series. Unlike most religions, there are many creation stories. My favorite essentially states that the entire world is a frost giant, which was the first being alive. The myths are also interesting, containing heros and God's alike.

As a rule, I tend to not read nonfiction, because it's about the real world, and I get more than enough of that on a daily basis. Books like these, on the other hand, keep my interest better that others of their kind, solely because they really aren't about the real world, and instead, are full of culture. I find mythology very interesting, and this is no exception. What stems purely from people's imagination is very often interesting, but when it evolves into an entire belief system is impressive. The fact that I can absorb the summary of almost an entire religion in literally an hour is also one of the things I like about these books. The brief but through style is something I haven't seen before. I would recommend to anyone looking for something rich with insight and culture. ( )
