Love, Lies, & Typewriters by Heather Blanton is a fun romantic comedy. As the author notes, the book is a departure from her normal Western romances…even still it is a good one. WWII is the time and Wyoming is the setting with Lucy getting up the nerve to make Dale, an old high school crush, now war hero, notice her. And notice her he does…she ends up on her backside in the street as he rescues her from a stampede. Bryce, a reporter with a camera just happens to see it all go down and thus begins the tangled web. How far are the three willing to go just to sell war bonds? Is this what Lucy has been waiting all her life for—a chance at Mr. Right and to travel as well? Just what kind of man is Dale anyway? Is this true love or is he just a cardboard cowboy? What about Bryce’s dream of writing a mystery novel? Will he give up his dream just to write a newspaper series about Cinderella and her Prince Charming? The story is well-written, moves quickly and with a few little twists to the plot, the author keeps readers guessing to the end. The characters are believable and draw you into the story immediately. Love, Lies, & Typewriters does not disappoint.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. A favorable review was not required and opinions are my own. ( )
