The book was a quick read and far more conventional than The Inverted World. A good read, but not Priests best.
Next book is The Grin of the Dark. Yesterday I finished The Inverted World and today I wrote a review.
The story is about a moving city and the reason why it moves. The social structure of the city is divided into guilds. The main character becomes a part of the guild system and through him we learn about the city.

XXXX ... For those of you hoping for The Inverted World, check bookfinder.com; it's a reprint of a 1974 book that's been out of print for a long time, so there are a lot of used copies floating around out there. GwenH, I actually requested The Inverted World for the style, since I think Christopher Priest's writing is fantastic, and I am willing to read any premise by him (and it helps that he comes up with really neat ideas)- I've already read The Prestige and The Glamour.
I got The Genizah at ... I was hoping for Inverted World but my luck deserted me. I'll check it out when it hits the stores and see if I like the writing style. It definitely has an intriguing premise, but I suspect it's a book where style counts for a lot. ... After The Fall Director's Cut Issue #1
