I soldiered through the first half of this omnibus (so all of King Hall and half of King Cave) hoping the characters would be fleshed out a bit, or the plot would stop jumping around and leaving giant gaps, or everyone would (in general) behave like somewhat rational adults and leaders. No such luck. Once I hit the first sex scene, complete with ridiculous nonsense like the mammoth penis getting stuck on penetration and then being RAMMED IN hard and far enough to penetrate the cervix (and this being just rapturously enjoyable for our heroine) I noted my way right on out. I read a fair amount of smut, and a size kink is totally fun if handled well...but this just made me cringe. I couldn't see any of this being fun or interesting unless I was a clueless virgin with no clue as to what that would ACTUALLY feel like. Namely? Super uncomfortably not fun. This is on top of a main character who is the Mary Sue-ish Mary Sue I've read in quite a while, a plot with so many holes I kept checking to see if there were other books in the series that I had somehow missed, and a juvenile handling of political relations. Abandoned. ( )
