It is the first in a set (Fools Gold) and paints the backdrops of culture, politics, and power. The people of Elda are separated by their livelihoods, their views of women, and their Gods. A cautious peace is in force following terrible wars. But Gods and wild magics are stirring and change is coming. The changes will be violent and will affect whole countries and individual people at bery deep levels. I really liked the rock climbing details. I'm torn about this one, it's not bad it just screams first novel quite hard. It's not a bad first novel but it just tries too hard sometimes. The interwoven stories of the different characters was interesting and I did really like Katla Aransen and how she lived. How she reacted to her father's finding her a match and the repressive society of Istria. There are times when you want to shout about getting to the point but somehow it's slightly lacking. 0.075 seconds to build listing no reviews | add a review

Katla becomes endearing and frustrating, and makes a great central character. She has a strong personality that effects all of those she comes in contact with. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. (
