This is excellent historical fiction.

There is actually two stories being told here: Jack McColl, British spy and Caitlin Haney, American journalist and socialist/feminist. McColl is sent to Russia to by the British government to disrupt Germany’s activities and this story is a spy thriller. McColl’s nemesis from his Irish adventure shows up too and manages to cause some trouble. Haney is in Russia more or less as a result of the Russian Revolution(s) to help establish a new order following the overthrow of the Tsar.

I was pleased to read in the end note that a fourth (and final) book in the series will be forthcoming. Will McColl and Haney settle down and live happily ever after? ( )
