This is the third book in the series featuring DCI Cyril Bennett. I've not read the previous two books and this doesn't matter - this one stands alone as a great novel.

Bennett's team are investigating the disappearance of a 14 year old boy in Harrogate. A piece of tattooed flesh turns up locally in a jar of honey. Other jars soon appear. And these seem to be the first clues. Then another boy goes missing.

This is a gripping, chilling, emotional read. The fact that children are involved will tug at every parent's heartstings - I found myself willing the boys to live all the way through. There are lots of twists and turns and great characters throughout. In a way it is a typical 'whodunnit', and although you can't help but try and guess, I was not right and the author keeps you guessing to the end of the plot.

Great read - will definitely go back and read books one and two at some point. Hopefully, there will be many more - I'm always on the lookout for a new series.
