I thoroughly enjoyed the bit about the gun going over the edge autobiography, comic, ww2, war in the desert, second volume Brilliant humour as one would expect from Milligan, but also pathos, again to be expected from him. Maybe the best way to look at the darkness of war is with humour? But Milligan also brings out the fact, often heard from people who served in World War 2, especially those who avoided the most horrific episodes, that it was the most exciting time of their lives, lifting them out of the rut of their working class existence.
