In these chapters, our intrepid heroines Susan, Daisy and Esther complete their first year at university. Daisy finds her way through an archaeological dig and a music festival (which was more educational?) Susan pines for her ex-boyfriend and gets roofied at the music festival (which is more taxing to the psyche?) and Esther accidentally works for an essay fraud ring, while the girls and guys prepare to move out of their old student housing and into their shared grownup housing, learning along the way that being grown up may not be all it's cracked up to be. And yet, smart, resourceful young people always seem to land on their feet. How sweet it is. ( ) The fun continues with Esther, Susan, Daisy, McGraw and Ed. I wasn't ready for it to be over. I love Daisy's efforts to keep her roomies out of trouble. The note she gave Esther to carry around during the summer was priceless. I don't know why it's taken me so long to realize this, but Allison is the author of Bad Machinery too. No wonder I like it so much! graphic fiction, series (read in order to meet the characters properly) Susan keeps running into McGraw and his new girlfriend Emilia; Daisy has a miserable time at her archaeology dig; Esther and Ed start to work for Dean Thompson, but it's not clear where the money is coming from; at the end-of-year party Ed is reacquainted with former colleague Jenny; the girls reunite over the summer at the Avon Valley music festival; a trip to IKEA to buy new furniture. no reviews | add a review

Written by John Allison (Bad Machinery, Scary Go Round) and illustrated by Max Sarin, Giant Days Volume 5 finishes off freshman year in style, the Eisner Award-nominated series. Their freshman year is finally coming to a close and Daisy, Susan, and Esther say goodbye to Catterick Hall forever. Literally forever. It's being bulldozed and re-purposed as a luxury dorm next semester. But as one door closes, another opens and between end of semester hookups, music festivals, and moving into their first home together, their life experiences are just getting started.
