i too love Anne Lamott's books...i have Plan B and Grace(Eventually) as well..the only "religious" books i own..other than The Bible.....but she is so straightforward...and just plain good to read.. I've been slowly reading Grace (Eventually) Thoughts on Faith by Anne Lamott and finished it today.

The Impressionist by Hari Kunzr ... #149: Carolyn, it has been several years since I read Travelling Mercies, but I do not remember it being as political as Grace Eventually was. I am not going to swear to it, however, since it has been a while since I read it. Overall, I think Lamott's books are worth reading - she challenges ... ... by her political stance...I was amused by it. But I won't explain to avoid spoilers.
One thing I appreciated about Grace Eventually is the lack of profanity, as opposed to the others I've read by her. I guess considering the subject matter she kept it clean, LOL...

I absolutely loved Bird by Bird, my first Lamott book. I think it's one of the coolest books about writing, ever. And then I read Operating Instructions where she talks about the birth of her son and the death of her best friend. I think I gave it 3 ... ... Jesus is interesting, and I know he is one of Borg's obsessions, so I've been meaning to read the Jesus book.

Truth about Lorin Jones Alison Lurie. I like her books, this was on the discard cart, a quick read.
Grace, Eventually Anne Lamott. Not one of her better efforts, it was disappointing, some of the essays had appeared in Salon. She's written better.
Hunting Badger A ... ... books - I just know what I like and what I do not like. Anyway, here is the beginning of my list for this year:
1. Grace (eventually) by Anne Lamott - I enjoy all her books although I do not necessarily agree with her theology
2. A Rogue's Proposal (audiobook) by Stephanie La ... Finished Anne Lamott's Grace, eventually but I thought her other books on faith were much better. She is a better writer than this book indicates.
If you aren't familiar with her work, traveling Mercies is much better.

Seconding any non-fiction by Anne Lamott. Just finished Grace (Eventually), which was typically great, and also hooted at Operating Instructions and her other earlier titles.
Also have to second Me Talk Pretty One Day by ... I just finished Anne Lamott's latest collections of essays: Grace (Eventually) Thoughts on Faith. I really enjoy her style, which seems so effortless, although when I heard her speak recently, she said that every four or five page essay takes at least a week for her to get it right.
Since ... ... about faith are hilarious. Plan B and Traveling Mercies are excellent self-examinations full of humor. Her newest, Grace, Eventually is on my shelf; I anticipate it will be every bit as good. ... started Ann Patchett's Bel Canto, which is simply marvelous thus far! I am also slowly enjoying Anne Lamott's Grace (Eventually) as my evening reading. Alternating between Grace (Eventually): Thoughts on Faith by Anne Lamott and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, in preparation for July's big event!
