This time Emmy meets her family and not sure if they have good intentions or not. Loved all the creepy characters and the ending. ( ) And Harrow County is back again! This volume is miles better than the previous one, building smartly on the existing storyline and characters. It expands the lore in a brilliant way, introducing the ‘family’ and how important the county is to everything. The artwork adds to this by being bold, beautiful, and incredibly creepy. The story builds slowly and takes its time in building up to the finale. But when it does, it’s explosive and bombastic and problematic. See, throughout the story we see the ‘family’ exerting control over the county in methodical ways. Yet, we don’t get to see much of Emmy in action, which is problematic because we don’t know what her limits are or what she’s capable of. And that’s a problem, mostly because the ending is a total deus ex machina. Without giving spoilers, it’s bombastic, yes, but it also comes out of nowhere with no hint at all. It’s also too easy. You have all these fascinating villains, but you dispatch of them like Marvel does in their films, which is to say it’s weak and boring. Other than that letdown, volume four is decent. Definitely read. no reviews | add a review
