Nap Dumas has overcome heartache in his life -- his mother was never around, his beloved father has died. In between those two events, his twin brother was killed when they were seniors in high school and the love of his young life disappeared. In the years since, Nap became a cop and is an investigator for the county where he grew up.

The past is about to catch up with him when two cops from out of state show up at his door. A cop in their own town was killed. He was a guy Nap went to high school with, but that's not why they came. It's because a set of prints he put into the system years ago got a hit when they were processing the case. The prints belong to the girl who captured his heart and vanished when they all were in school.

From there, the action never stops in Harlan Coben's latest suspense novel. Old friends, old rumors and new perspectives on what Nap thought he knew come together masterfully. Who Nap is, who he was and who he could become are an important part of the story. This becomes as integral to the story as solving the mystery. As a bonus, an old favorite makes an appearance.

Coben says that two rumors he grew up with turned out to both be true. They certainly work together well in Don't Let Go. They also show that secrets aren't really secrets in a small town. And if someone doesn't hide the truth from himself, he can find a way to reconcile past and future. ( )

I liked this one. I thought all the characters were well defined and I adored Nap. Nothing beats Harlan Coben. I like his style. He's complete, he's relate-able and funny (even when the story isn't).

Through the whole book Nap speaks to his dead, twin brother Leo. He's still mourning him 15yrs later after what appears to be a double suicide on the train tracks with his girlfriend, Diana. The same night that Leo and Diana are found, Nap's girlfriend, Maura, disappears. After certain details arise, Nap starts asking questions and after learning so much, he can't turn back. He needs to find out what happened 15 yrs ago. ( )

Another great suspenseful novel from the master of the twists and turns. Highly recommended. If you're not a Coben fan what are you waiting for. ( )

When the fingerprints of his high school sweetheart are found at a crime site, New Jersey cop Nap Dumas is shocked. She had disappeared fifteen years earlier right after the presumed accidental death of Nap’s brother, Leo and Leo’s girlfriend. As well, the victim of the crime was both a fellow cop and someone who had been at high school with them. Nap is convinced that this can’t be random especially after he discovers that they had all been members of a conspiracy club back in high school. When another member of the club is murdered, he is sure that, not only was his brother’s death not an accident, but now the rest of the club is being targeted – but why after all these years and, more to the point, by whom.

No one knows how to ramp up tension like author Harlan Coben and he proves that once again in Don't Let Go. His use of active sentences and short paragraphs keeps the tension ramped up and the story moving at a fast pace even between action scenes. No surprise that a book that includes the deaths and disappearances of the members of a high school conspiracy includes a real conspiracy but somehow even knowing this, the outcome isn’t quite as simple as the reader might think. This one should definitely please both fans and new readers alike.

Thanks to Edelweiss and Dutton for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review ( )

I am so glad I read this. I love Harlan Coben’s books and this one did not disappoint. I loved the twists and turns and the suspense. This book had great characters. I received a copy of this book from Firsttoread for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will. ( )
