Dog Man, the newest hero from the creator of Captain Underpants, hasn't always been a paws-itive addition to the police force. While he can muzzle miscreants, he tends to leave a slick of slobber in his wake! This time, Petey the cat's dragged in a tiny bit of trouble-- a double in the form of a super-cute kitten. Dog Man will have to work twice as hard to bust these furballs and remain top dog!… (more)

These books are really good to get children reading. I read this book with my nephew and he seemed to enjoy it and laugh the whole way through. I feel like these books a really engaging because they are written in comic book style. I really enjoyed reading this book and would definitely use this in my classroom library. These books are more appropriate for older kids who can already read. ( )

Dog Man is a mixture between a policeman and his dog that fights crime in the city. He is committed to saving the lives of the citizens and his city by stopping evil doers like Petey the cat. This book is similar to Captain Underpants and it would be a great graphic novel for children to read. Teachers could use this book to demonstrate a graphic novel because it would be different than a biography or poetry book. Students could create a comic strip and compare it to other genres. ( )

The dog man graphic novels are very silly and humorous books for kids, especially kids around the age of fifth grade. Dog man is the superhero result constructed by two friends together. The new superhero is a bit quirky and peculiar, but he gets to doing his job, which is capturing many villains such as Petey the cat, and other evil sources. What makes this graphic novel so wacky, silly, and attention grabbing could be due to it's vast use of descriptive language and onomatopoeia. These literary devices are mind pulling to children. ( )

DOG MAN is a new series of graphic novels for children by Dav Pilkey featuring a dog-headed police officer.

Like Captain Underpants who was created by George and Harold, Dog Man is an unusual superhero made by a pair of friends. In the first book, this “crime-biting canine” is created when a police officer and his police dog are combined to save both lives. The resulting new superhero has some quirks, but he quickly gets to work capturing criminals like Petey the Cat and other evil doers. Two additional books including Unleashed and A Tale of Two Kittens explore stories featuring evil Petey the Cat. The latest addition to the series introduces Dog Man’s new sidekick Cat Kid. Together they become an effective crime fighting team.

Librarians will find a huge following for this hilarious new series. With endless jokes focusing on the relationship between dogs and cats, this new series will appeal to pet lovers along with fans of Captain Underpants.

We all love the Dog Man graphic novels. Silly in a laugh-out-loud kind of way. ( )
