Halloween is almost here, and Corduroy can't wait! He is going to have a party.

Halloween is almost here! Corduroy and his friends love this time of year - the pumpkins, the candy, and of course, the costumes for trick-or-treating! What is Corduroy going to wear this Halloween?

I enjoyed reading this book because it allows for readers to connect to the main character Corduroy, who is a teddy bear. We sense his emotions when trying to figure out a costume to wear for Halloween. After thinking so hard of what to dress up as, he continuously found himself thinking of ideas that his friends already mentioned. He did not want to copy them, so he began to stress. Shortly after doing last minute prepping for Halloween night, he finally figured out what he was going to dress up as. After noticing the tablecloth, he quickly decided that he wanted to dress up as a ghost, so he cut two holes in it for the eyes and was confident to show his friends. They recognized his creativeness and thought it was quite humorous. He ended up having the best costume even though he was very last minute. When reading, readers can see Corduroy's facial expressions as they represent his feelings and emotions. For example, when trying on various costumes, readers see how unfortunate he looks because he realizes his friends already mentioned dressing up in those costumes. The illustrations are detailed and realistic, which are a significant part to this book as a whole. However, if the author decided to tell the story from Corduroy's perspective at particular times, readers would get an even better sense of how he was truly feeling. For example, when Corduroy's friend Puppy's costume fell a part, he was kind enough to give him his dinosaur costume that he was almost sure he was going to trick or treat in. The author exclaimed, "Corduroy thought about it. He loved his costume. But puppy was so sad. And Corduroy knew that friends were more important than costumes." Readers may have gotten a better idea of Corduroy's true thoughts if it was told in first person. Overall, the development of the story was very well represented by realistic illustrations, as well as granted the bear with human characteristics that made the storyline seem more practical. ( )

In my opinion this is a good book. First, I really liked the characters because the main character is a really good friend. because he not only tries to copy someone else's costume, but also giving a friend his own costume when thier's is ruined. Second, I really enjoyed the illustrations used in this book because they were really interesting to want to see, but also they were perfectly paired with what was happening on each page of the story, so it made it easy to follow along with the text and the pictures, especially with the costume shopping page because it showed all of the costumes he was considering buying. I really enjoyed the main idea of this story which was the importance of being a good friend even if it is something you don't always want to do. ( )

Corduroy’s Best Halloween Ever! Is a non-fiction picture book. This book is a book that all children should read while talking about Halloween. Not only is this a fun Halloween book, but it is also educational for children. There are several educational aspects of this book. The first one is when Corduroy is trying to figure out what to be for Halloween and instead of buying a costume he makes it. The second educational aspect of this book is that when Corduroy’s friend Puppy comes over upset because his costume wasn’t working Corduroy ended up giving Puppy his own costume that he made to make Puppy happy. Corduroy even says in the book that “friends are more important than a costume.” This is a very helpful book to teach children about the importance of friendship and that materialistic things don’t matter like a friendship does. So this book can serve more the one purpose in the classroom besides just a fun Halloween read. I also really like the illustrations in the book. They look like the illustrator took a lot of time to do them and they are very detailed and colorful. ( )
