The Boy Who Spoke Colors is the tale of a boy who is born to a couple who cannot conceive easily, and is stolen by a king because the boy spits colors from his mouth rather than sounds words. Once the boy becomes old enough, he runs away to find his family, leading the king and his men to their death, and finally speaks his first real word. This story is about family and bringing people together, just as the boy brought the girl who raised him to live with his parents. The artwork in this picture book is stunning with vibrant colors that closely illustrate the imaginative style required from this text. ( )

A mother and father had tried for a long while to have a baby and when they finally did they realized he wasn't speaking. One day he opened his mouth and instead of words coming out, a puff of colored smoke came out. The king heard of it and he tried to buy the boy, when the parents refused he stole the boy to put him to work. The boy tried to escape and ended up creating a rainbow and getting away from the king.
