Loading... Two Little Girls in Blueby Mary Higgins Clark
2006 Decent thriller that tugged at my dadstrings. full of suspence, i did not want to put it down. Telepathy between twins appears to be very real. My mother is a twin so are my brothers. Clark has the suspense unfold immediatley upon openning the book which is something I like about this author. You also become immediately attached to the 3 year old twins Kelly & Kathy and feel the heartache the parents and investgators feel during this novel. A very good read and again as Clark does; "much goes on" in this story. This is a story of every parent's nightmare: the abduction of a child. Ms Higgins Clark weaves beautifully the mystery and the drama behind such a terrible event. The tale starts when twin sisters Kelly and Kathy are abducted from their home and held for ransom. The parents are not wealthy, why have they been targeted? With the support of the husband's employer the ransom is eventually raised. It is agreed that the twins will be released in exchange for the money...but something goes terribly wrong and only Kelly is freed...What has happened to Kathy? Time is critical.... From the beginning of the book we are given the point of view from all characters making the story interesting and realistic. In her writing, Ms Clark handles with great sensitivity the pain and suffering of the parents, describes the strong bond between twins, the frustration felt by the investigators and the cunning dealings of the kidnappers. She amazingly conveys the emotions of her characters through simple story line in short chapter presentation. Although I enjoyed this novel, there were little surprises throughout, things were very predictable and little was left to the imagination. Is the author becoming a cookie cutter novelist? This novel seems too formulaic in its writing... Very good Page turner. Twin 3 yr old girls are kidnapped and only one is returned for the ransom. Interesting aspect of twin speak and twin telepathy made me afraid for the girls. I cannot praise Mrs. Mary Higgins Clark enough on her novels. This book in particular was a heart-wrenching, fast-paced, excellent read. Once you get farther into the story-line, you cannot put it down. I would recommend this book to all suspense/mystery lovers. I enjoyed this book, as I do most of Ms. Clark's books. Excellent book! It kept you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Mystery/ Thriller novel in which twin girls are kidnapped early. when one returns and the other is presumed dead, the returned twin is convinced her sibling is alive through twin telepathy. This book was very interesting, but it had many characters that became a bit confusing to the reader. A waste of money! Initially, I found it hard to read this novel. The writing style is different than what I'm used to reading, and the way the dialogue and people's thought are written seem extremely unreal to me. However, as the story progressed, I got used to both the style and the dialogue issues and I rather enjoyed the novel. I have to caution though, at times the novel is a hard read. It deals with the kidnapping of two three year old girls, with only one of them being returned. The rest of the novel deals with the search for the second girl and the family's reactions to it all. I found it really difficult when the author described the returned girl and how she was communicating with her still-missing sister. It's really a heart wrenching novel. It is about the kidnapping of three year old twins, and the plot moves just like in dozens of cheap movies: police is puzzled, parents are scared, there's some corporate opportunity grabbing going on and the kidnappers turn out to be white trash who are bound to trip into their own shue laces (figuratively speaking). The book chapters have been broken into small snippets (like movie scenes), with breaks every time anything happens, so the book moves like a broken car. For the first 30 pages I kept telling myself I would read at least 100 pages before considering abandoning the book because of the flat and uninteresting writing, but at 50 pages I called it waste of my time. Two twin girls, ages three, are kidnapped. Once their ransom is paid, only one is found, the other reported dead. However, at the memorial service, her twin seems to be communicating with her. I love reading this author also. This is the story of twin little girls who are kidnapped and held for ransom. The father's firm agrees to put up the ransom money. A note turns up at the ransom scene saying that one of the girls had died, but at the memorial service for the one girl, the twin tells her mom that they have to get her sister because she's very scared of the lady. Keeps you guessing/thinking. A nice story, some suspense and some surprises. But even though we are worried about what happens to Kathy and want to discover the Pied Piper's identity, it was a light read, not really thrilling and scareful like some of her other books, or at least I didn't fell it. It was hard to put down, though, maybe because of the short chapters who made the reading faster (in a James Patterson sort of way). I still like MHC, but I think she's loosing some of her touch in her last books. A typical Mary Higgins Clark. Entertaining, page-turner, with happy ending tells an interesting story (or fact?) about twins, how they interact and communicate with each other A harrowing mystery of the whereabouts of twin girls. Another of Mary Higgins Clark's masterpieces. Boo! I was so disappointed! I kept seeing this book on the best seller list and the topic was truely interesting. But, the story, however, wasn't. Not terrible, but not great. From Booklist Clark's thirty-third book revisits the subject matter of her first (Where Are the Children? 1975), addressing every parent's worst nightmare, the abduction of children. Steve and Margaret Frawley return to their new house after a night out on the town to discover that their three-year-old twins, Kelly and Kathy, have been kidnapped. The kidnappers are demanding an $8 million ransom. As the executives at the company where Steve works debate paying the ransom, the three kidnappers, Lucas, Clint, and Clint's unstable girlfriend, Angie, wait for instructions from the plot's mastermind, who identifies himself only as the Pied Piper. Steve's company agrees to pay the ransom, but the Pied Piper's plan goes awry when Angie decides she wants to keep Kathy and shoots Lucas, leaving a fake suicide note claiming he accidentally killed Kathy. Although she is grateful to be reunited with Kelly, Margaret can't accept the loss of Kathy and clings to Kelly's assertion that she is in psychic communication with her twin. Clark's latest novel lacks the nail-biting suspense of some of her previous ones, but given how the subject matter dovetails with that of her first popular novel, expect interest. Riveting thriller which take us deep into the minds of her characters. Fast moving with many twists. Dissapointing. This book was a best-seller, which intrigued me. Good concept. Could have been better. This was my first major mystery book. It was a great book to introduce me to the genre. This author is going on my list of "favorites". |
