A Bookring book. I read it quickly and passed it along. ( )This book is probably my least favorite Kay Hooper book. The plot that takes up most of the book is fine, but it turns out to only be a subplot. Meanwhile, the "main" plot does not get hardly any attention and the reader is left wondering where it came from. There is no suspense around the main plot - it just seems to be page filler. To top it off, the romance quickly turns cheesy and gets only that much worse at the very end. It's one of those soap opera "awww" kind of feelings... On top of the clues being totally predictable, the action scenes were anticlimactic, and the reader was left wondering if this could have been a better book with more gracious editting to the point that it was sold as a novella. Hopefully the next book in the trilogy is much better than this one. I'm willing to try it out only because the other several books I have read by Kay Hooper have been everything they were advertised to be. Yes, sometimes the heroine has Way Too Much Angst, but this sucked me in, kept me up way past my bedtime and kept me guessing until the end! A burnt out successful psychic retreats to a quiet North Carolina town to find that murder is stalking her, and maybe she's next! |
