jam acked with interesting information presented so that the layman can understand it but not oversimplified. Everything you ever wanted to know about flies, and, I'll be honest, a lot you might not want to know is presented with humor and apprecation. a great read. ( )

A chipper tour through the world of flies, packed with anecdotes and facts about multiple groups, with lovely photos. McAlister makes a good case that flies are far, far more interesting than beetle fans may have thought. Although the hardcover looks great, it unfortunately seems to have been produced in-house by the Natural History Museum, and the editing is substandard, with lots of comma splices and dodgy typography.
